Etisalat Cup Round 7 Match Preview

After more than two months break, The 2011/2012 Etisalat Cup returns this weekend, where the Groups A&B flame the pitch on 27,28 January in the7th round of the competition. Group A reignites the competition with Emirates hosting their Abu Dhabi counterparts Al Wahda at the RAK club stadium 5:10 pm, Group B Ajman meet their Dubai visitors at home in Rashid bin Saeed stadium 5:15 pm. The Friday night ends with the thrill that sees Al Ain visiting Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to meet Al Jazira in the exciting encounter to be held at 8:00 pm.


The Round 7 clash continues on Saturday where the Group A Dubai and Al Wasl play at Al Maktoum stadium, the Group B 2011 Etisalat cup champions Al Shabab host Sharjah at Maktoum bin Rashid stadium, and Round 7 ends with Bani Yas facing Al Ahli home in Al Shamikha.


It should be noted that the 12 professional teams play Round 7 of the Etisalat Cup competition with the absence of some of their main international players participating in the national team training camp preparing to meet their Lebanese rivals on 29 February within Group B final match of the AFC 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification to take place in Brazil, and the Olympic team training camp taking place in Dammam, Saudi Arabia within the preparation for the AFC 2012 London Olympics qualification.


Emirates vs. Al Wahda
The Group A bottom table teams with 5 points to Emirates and 6 to al Wahda go onto the pitch with dead hope to qualify into the golden box unless one win the remaining three matches and yet see how the Group B results end. It is worth mentioning that Al Jazira top the Etisalat Cup standings with 13 points followed by Al Ain with 10 points, Dubai and Al Wasl hold the 3rd and 4th place with 9 points.


Ajman vs. al Nasr
The second place holders Ajman with 11 points meet the 4th Al Nasr with 7 points and both have great expectations to reach the golden box. The Group B standings see Al Shabab at the top with 13 points, Al Ahli 3rd with 10 points, while Bani Yas and Sharjah keep the Group B bottom table with 7 and 2 points respectively.


Al Jazira vs. Al Ain
The most awaited Etisalat cup Group A top table encounter sees Al Ain with 10 points trying to beat their hosts and have better chances than Dubai and Al Wasl who are only a point away. Al Jazira in return seek to increase the Gap and reserve themselves a guaranteed ticket into the golden box.
