Dubai beat Sharjah 3-0; Al Ahli defeat Ajman by a solitary goal.
Sharjah are still staying at the relegation zone with only ten points after losing to Dubai by the straight goals in the Etisalat Pro League 19 round match played this evening at the formers' Stadium in Al Aweer. The winners raised their tally to 14 points the same balance of Emirates, but they are still classified as second from bottom.
The visitors were the better side as they controlled the match during the opening minutes but they could not benefit from all the chances they created. The visitors recovered quickly and started to play a balanced football exerting some good efforts and making a number of attempts. Their work yielded an early goal through Camara from Guinea only 19 minutes into play when he capitalized on a big blunder committed by Sharjah goalkeeper Hassan Al Sharif who failed to control a long ball switched from a long distance inside the box for Camara to collect it and drive it into the empty net. Abbas Atwa was to make it 2-0 two minutes later with a long – range left footer but for his bad fortune the ball hit the cross bar before being cleared away by a defender.
Sharjah made every bit of effort to come back to the match but all their attacks were weak. Hassan Mohammed made things difficult for the visiting team when he scored the second goal off the ball switched from the right flank in the 38th minute. The hosts missed a lovely opportunity in the last minute through Nicolas whose short rebounded off the right up to end the first session with a 1-0 for Dubai.
The visitors went all out over the interval to score the equalizer while the hosts intensified their forays to add the second goal but both teams failed to make it. Brazilian Marcelo missed a nice sitter for Sharjah in the 71st minute when his close- range shot from inside the six yard area hit the bottom of the cross bar before being controlled by the goalkeeper. Marcelo missed another chance three minutes to time when his header went just near the upright. Dubai Lebanese striker Abbas Atwa put things beyond the reach of Sharjah when he netted the third goal two minutes into injury time to give his side a 3-0 win.
In the second match Al Ahli beat Ajman with a solitary goal in the game held at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium. The winners raised their balance to 25 points but remain in their previous 8th position while the losers remain in 5th place with 27 points. Essa Obaid scored the all-important goal on the game in the 62nd minute.
