Dubai and Al Shabab draw 1-1 in the concluding second round match
Dubai and Al Shabab were tied to a 1-1 draw to share points of their Etisalat Pro-League second round concluding match played tonight at Al Aweer Stadium in Dubai. It was the fourth draw in this week and Al Wasl and Al Ahli were the only teams who emerged winners. Al Shabab have raised their balance to 4 points to stay in 4th position while Dubai have collected their first point that put them in 10th spot. The game was marred by fast play from the start, and Dubai were the most dangerous side in the first 15 minutes through the quick attacks led by Nabil Al Daoudi, Abu-Bakr Kamara, Simon and Hassan Abdul Rahman from the midfield, but the Dubai's new Uzbek star Bakiyev was not effective and was replaced by Hassan Muhammad in the second half.
Ciel of Al Shabab tried to use his speed in attacking the visiting team, but Dubai's defense led by Kazim Ali, Malalla and Ismail stood solid on his way for the two teams to end the first session with a goalless draw. Al Shabab missed the efforts of their Chilean playmaker Villanueva due to suspension after receiving a red card in the first game and it was clear that Al Shabab's attacks were in lack of good finishing and their player Haydarov was not in the required standard.
Dubai continued their attacks and took the lead via Kamara who scored the first goal off a lovely pass from Hassan Abdul Rahman in the 60th minute. Kamara was set free, faced the goalkeeper Ismail Rabei before sending a rocket-like volley that went straight into the up right hand side corner. Al Shabab recovered afterwards making some attacking attempts and their efforts were paid dividends when Julio Cesar leveled the score in the 80th minute with a perfect header into the left hand side of Dubai's custodian Ahmed Salim off Ciel's cross from the right flank.
Each of the two teams endeavored to net the winner and Suroor Salim scored the second goal for Al Shabab, but it was cancelled by the assistant referee because the player touched the ball with his hand to end the game with a 1-1 result.
