Dubai beat Al Shaab with Magrao lone goal
Dubai raised their balance to 19 points and jumped to 7th position to bypass both Al Wasl and Al Wahda following their win with a alone goal scored by their professional player Magrao six minutes to time in the concluding match of round 15 in the Etisalat Pro League played tonight at Dubai Stadium in Al Aweer. Al Shaab are 12th with a record of 7 points.
The two teams started the game with great care especially in the opening minutes fearing to concede an early goal that might affect their plans and tactics and put more pressure on the players. But afterwards they demonstrated a balanced technical performance which looked poor and monotonous as well.
Both squads made some attempts every now and then, created a few sitters but were not so dangerous and the attackers squandered all the chances that came their way.
Dubai professional player Richard Porta could not finish the last three minutes of the first half due to injury but he came and joined the team after the breather after receiving medical treatment. The first session ended with a scoreless draw.
The performance developed virtually in the second half with both teams making some good attempts but could not score and in one of these occasions Carica launched a strong shot in the 59th minute but it was deflected by the keeper Jamal Abdullah to a corner.
The time went on very fast for both teams and Dubai looked the better and most concentrating side after reaching their rivals’ goal many times. Their player Hassan Abdulrahman fired a severe shoot off a dead ball but it was deflected by the custodian Mutaz Abdullah to a corner. Magrao scored the winner for Dubai with a perfect heel in the 84th minute. Al Shaab tried to level the score afterwards but the remaining minutes could not help them to make their dreams come true.
