Al Jazira to the semi finals

Al Jazira scored a spectacular 4-0 victory over their hosting counterparts Dubai in the encounter that took place this evening at Al Awir stadium within Round 8 of the Etisalat Cup competition.

The first half saw Al Jazira reigning the pitch from the very beginning, the Group A leaders broke down the walls of their hosts and distracted their concentration. The runner up team surprisingly seemed to hopelessly surrender and made no real pressure over their visitors who in return feeling more relieved with their control successfully netted their first goal in the 16th minute when the defender Khalid Sabeal passed the ball inside the box to his team player Sultan Burghush who smoothly found his way into the right corner of Dubai’s goalkeeper Jamal Abdullah. Within 10 minutes Bare created another chance taking advantage of his opponents’ distraction and passed a long shot which found its way again to the match playmaker Sultan Burghush to net Al Jazira’s rewarding second goal in the 27th minute. Al Awir lions were close to score their first goal in the 46th minute when Hassan Abdulrahman performed a free kick which Ali Khaseif saved with confidence to end the first part of the game with a 2-0 victory to the Abu Dhabi champions.

Sultan Burghush made a spectacular move when Jamal abdullah saved a free kick performed by Subait Khater and fell on the ground, but the match playmaker surprised the goalkeeper when he took the ball and scored his own and the team’s third goal in the 60th minute.

A defensive blunder performed by Dubai’s Ismael Ahmed when he was trying to save a long distant shot sent from Subait Khater from midfield, sent a header into his own net to gift his rivals their fourth goal in the 72nd minute.

With 19 points Al Jazira confidently top the Group A table  and officially reserve themselves a ticket to the semi-finals and be part of the golden box, while Dubai step down to the third place leaving the second position to Al Ain after beating Emirates 3-0, and keep their 12 points on the standings.
