Al Ahli beat Dubai 2-1 to maintain second win in Etisalat League
Al Ahli maintained their second win in Etisalat Pro League following their 2-1 victory over Dubai in the game held at Al Aweer pitch tonight to make their fans happy after a series of passive results in the last period. The winners maintained their first win when they beat Emirates in the second round. They raised their balance to 7 points that put them in 7th position ahead of Bani Yas Vs Al Nar and Ajman Vs Emirates matches while Dubai are staying at the bottom of the ladder with only two points and are still looking for their first win.
Al Ahli dominated the game in the first 20 minutes and in turn the performance of Dubai was vital on the midfield zone, which was led by Guinean Simon, who missed the previous game against Ajman, with his fellow Abu-Bakr Kamara and Hassan Abdul Rahman. They had the most dangerous chances to score and in the 25th minute Camara was set free, but he sent a weak shot that saved by goalkeeper Yousuf Al Zaabi, and a minute later Abdullah Abdul Qadir was also set free from the right flank, broke into the penalty area and sent a shot into the far corner for the goalkeeper to deflect it with difficulty to a corner.
Ismail Al Hamadi gave Al Ahli the lead three minutes before the end of the first session off a stand ball sent by Jaja in front of the goal mouth for Al Hamadi to head it home. Dubai did not lose hope but they continued their attempts and their player Hassan Mohammad squandered a penalty kick one minute before the break.
The two teams played a balanced match in the second half but they lost a bagful of chances. Dubai leveled the score in the 71st minute through Camara off a ball switched by Hassan Mohammad. But Al Ahli did not wait long before Al Hammadi added the second goal in the 76th minute off Amer Mubarak's pass inside the box. Jaja came close to score the third goal for Al Ahli in the injury time when he faced the goalie but his shot hit the upright and Hassan Abdul Rahman lost a valuable chance for Dubai when his shot flew over the cross bar.
