H.E Abdulla Naser Aljunaibi, Deputy Chairman of the Pro League Committee, Chairman of the Technical Committee, PLC official spokesman, participated in the second meeting of day one of the 6th Dubai International Sports Conference which is held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and organized by Dubai Sports Council on 28 & 29 December 2011 at Intercontinental- Dubai Festival City- under title “Football Companies… Current and Future Trends”.

In the beginning, Aljunaibi thanked Dubai Sports Council for hosting the Dubai International Sports Conference in its 6th version, referring to the wise leadership of the UAE leaders in setting the plans and adapting a clear vision at different political, economic and social levels including sports.
Being the closest to the UAE sports experience; Aljunaibi discussed in his speech the “Japenses sports experience” and its 100-year vision to develop football not only as a source of mere entertainment but as a role-model in many different features particularly the social and community aspect. Then he stressed the importance of setting long term plan to develop football, and how the clubs’ consecutive managements should commit to this plan.

Shiro Kohara, The Japanese Jamba Osaka Club CEO, was the example Aljunaibi outlined. Kohara dreamed of a European-like stadium in 1999 despite the financial deficit the club was going under at that time and which reached 80 million$. Kohara realized that in order to make this dream come true the club should win champions to attract fans and sponsors. In 2005 the club won the league championship and started to attract fans and sponsors, sooner the club successfully owned their 21,000 seats stadium. Conclusion is Championships help the clubs reach their goals and their financial growth.
Aljunaibi referred to the progress the UAE professional clubs have achieved in such a short period and how committed to the AFC standards they are holding the 5th position in the last AFC assessment that took place last October, taking in consideration the need of constant development for both the technical and fan base standards.

In terms of clubs revenues, Aljunaibi outlined the drastic change occurred to the UAE clubs revenues in the last few years which have approximately increased from 2 million$ in 2007 to 32 million$ in 2010.
In the end, Aljunaibi assured that it is not enough to be aware of professional standards as much as it is important how to put them in action and learn from them.
