AL Shaab and Al Nasr draw 1-1 to pick up first point

Al Shaab and Al Nasr shared points to pick up first point each after drawing 1-1 in the Etisalat Cup Group “A” match played today evening at Sharjah Stadium. The visitors dominated the major parts of the game in the first session and they were about to take the lead in the 8th minute but Hassan Mohammed’s perfect header hit the cross bar and the ball came again his way and his second attempt was deflected by the goalie Hassan Al Harbi to a corner. Al Nasr’s Italian coach Walter Zenga made a compulsory substitution when he brought in Rashid Malalla to replace injured Badr Yagout. But Al Nasr scored afterwards the opener through Younis Ahmed off Hassan Amin’s cross pass in the 27th minute to end the first half with a lone goal lead.

Only two minutes have passed after the breather before Nasser Khamis netted the equalizer for Al Shaab who controlled the game in most parts of the remaining time while Al Nasr performance dropped down and both teams failed to add more goals.

Each of the two coaches made some changes in his line up hoping to snatch full points but the two teams failed to score and the result remained the same till the end of the match.

In the other game Al Shabab beat Diba Al Fujairah with three straight goals in their Group “C” encounter held at Khalifa bin Zayed in Al Ain Club. The winners raised their tally to four points to remain in the second position whereas Diba Al Fujairah are staying at the bottom of the ladder after two successive defeats. Al Shabab ended the first half with a lone goal scored by their Brazilian striker Luiz Da Siva Alves           in the 34th minute. His countrymen Ciel and Edgar added two goals after the break in the 52nd and 54th minutes respectively to end the game with a 3-0 win.
