Al Nasr regain league leadership; Al Jazira harden Dibba Al Fujairah
Dubai – based Al Nasr regained leadership of the Etisalat Pro – League standings 2012 – 2013 after beating Al Shaab 2-1 in the sixth round match played tonight at Al Wasl Stadium in Zabeel to raise their tally to 14 points while Al Shaab remain in tenth place with a record of 6 points.
The two teams stared the game with a poor performance and played the opening minutes with great care. The Iraqi midfielder of Al Nasr Nashat Akram sent a strong volley only 11 minutes into play but it missed the target and his Brazilian team mate Bruno Cesar tested his luck but his shot went just neat the post. Rashid Malalla missed a real chance for Al Nasr in the second minute of the injury time when he failed to control Bruno’s shot.
The Italian player Mascara gave Al Nasr the lead only four minutes after the break capitalizing on Al Farman’s perfect cross ball. But Al Shaab leveled the scores in the 57th minute through the French pro. Michael Laurent when he received a through pass from Brazilian Careca to bring the game back into parity. Inspired by the equalizer, Al Shaab became more active trying to come out with a single point. Their goalkeeper Abdullah Mousa saved Careca’s strong shot, but Al Nasr compensated the lost sitter six minutes before the final whistle when Brazilian Bruno Cesar netted the second goal with a perfect header off Hassan Amin’s cross to snatch three valuable points for his side.
In the second match of the day, Al Jazira maintained a big 4-0 victory over Dibba Al Fujairah at Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium to raise their balance to 10 points that put them in 6th position whereas Dibba Al Fujairah remain in the penultimate place with only one point.
Delgado scored an early goal for Al Jazira only four minutes from the start and Abdullah Mousa added the second in the 34th minute to end the first half with a 2-0 lead. Dibba’s player Saeed Obaid was sent off with a straight red card in the 32nd minute due to a dangerous tackle against Salem Masaud.
Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira made it 3-0 in the 61st minute and Abdullah Mousa sealed the result for Al Jazira when he scored the fourth goal six minutes to time.
