Dibba Al Fujairah stay in Relegation Zone after 1-0 loss to Dubai

 

Dubai raised their tally to 22 points to stay in 11th  position following their one-goal win over  hosts Dibba Al Fujairah in the Etisalat Pro League round 14  postponed match played tonight at Al Fujairah Stadium. Rami Yaslam scored the all-important goal of the match two minutes before the break. The winners have the same balance as Ajman after the latter team was outclassed 3-0 this evening by Al Dhafra. It was the 15th loss for Dibba Al Fujairah in the League competition for the current season, and they remain second from bottom with 11 points. 

Dibba Al Fujairah, who are struggling to avoid relegation, controlled the game from the word 'go' and they were the better side in the opening 20 minutes but they failed to set up dangerous attacks on the visitors’ goal. Dubai organized their lines afterwards and they soon recovered to demonstrate a balanced and strong performance. They built up some good opportunities but could not score as their strikers lacked ideas to translate their moves into goals. Each of the two squads squandered two scoring opportunities in the first half as Richard Porta lost a chance for Dubai in the 22nd minute when he faced the goal but his close-range shot was controlled by the goalkeeper Mohammad Al Rowaihi. Hassan Abdulrahman missed another sitter for Dubai in the 36th minute. Dibba Al Fujairah’s duo players Ahmad Rashid and Ahmad Malalla also lost two successive chances in the 37th and 38th minutes respectively before Rami Yaslam scored the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute.

Both Dibba Al Fujairah and Dubai produced a fast-flowing attacking game in the second half and Dubai continued their superiority over the home team putting tremendous pressure on their defense. Ahmad Malalla of Dibba Al Fujairah made an individual effort, rounding a defender, but his shot was deflected by the 'keeper Jamal Abdullah for a corner kick. Luiz Fernando came close to scoring in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper but his severe volley flew over the cross bar in the 63rd minute, soon followed by another attempt by his team mate Ahmad Malalla but his double kick shot rebounded off the cross bar before being cleared away by a defender. The home team pressed hard in the last minutes but they could not find an equaliser as Rene Marsiglia's Dubai side held on to claim an elusive 1-0 win.
