Bani Yas beat Kalba 2-1 to jump to second place

With a late goal scored by the substitute Fareed Ismail three minutes to time, Bani Yas snatched a valuable 2-1 win over Ittihad Kalba in the Etisalat Cup fifth round match played this evening at the winners’ Stadium in Al Shamkha to jump to second spot in the second group with 6 points while Kalba are staying at the bottom of the table with a single point.

Khalid Mubarak opened the scoring for Bani Yas in the 22nd minute after which the work was concentrated on the midfield zone without any dangerous attacks for the referee to end the first session with a 1-0 lead for Bani Yas.

The hosts dominated the game from the very start of the second half trying to increase their tally but it was Kalba who found the back of the net through Khalid Ali in the 59th minute to make it 1-1. Fareed Ismail squandered a lovely sitter for Bani Yas when he failed to score ten minutes later. But the same player came to secure full points for his side when he netted the winner in the 87th minute to give Bani Yas a 2-1 win.
