Bani Yas beat Dibba Al Fujairah 2-0 to top the standings temporarily
Bani Yas moved four steps forward to top the standings of the Etisalat Pro – League provisionally before Al Jazira - Al Ain encounter kicks off with a record of 12 points after beating Dibba Al Fujairah 2-0 in the fifth round match held tonight at Al Shamkha Stadium in Bani Yas Club. The losers are still staying second from bottom with a lone point.
The hosts demonstrated the major parts of the first half and that helped them to score a quick goal and take the lead when Senegalese Andre Sengahor headed home the first goal seven minutes from the word go. Inspired by their early 1-0 lead, the winners went on taking superiority over the visiting team, looking for more goals and their efforts were soon paid dividends when Ahmad Ali netted the second goal ten minutes later off a severe volley from inside the six yard area.
Dibba Al Fujairah recovered afterwards and they made good attempts but failed to score. Their striker Ahmad Rashid was close to reduce the deficit when he received a cross ball inside the box but his header hit the ground and then the cross bar five minutes before the breather. The same player came to squander another opportunity in the last minute of the first half when his shot hit the post and passed outside to end the first session with a 2-0 lead for the home squad.
The two teams exerted some good efforts in the second half but they lost all the chances that came their way to end the game with a 20- win for Bani Yas.
In the second match of the night, Al Ahli defeated Ittihad Kalba 3-1 to raise their balance to 10 points that put them in third position temporarily whereas Kalba remain at the bottom of the table and they are yet to open their account after losing all last four games. Kalba’s Moroccan Player Nabil Al Dawoodi lost two successive sitters in the opening minutes when he was set free but could not score. Brazilian Graffiti gave Al Ahli the lead afterwards with two quick goals in the 15th and 16th minutes. Al Ahli failed to add more goals to end the first half with a 2-0 result.
Nabil Al Dawood of Kalba pulled one back off a penalty kick when he was fouled inside the box by Al Ahli’s defender in the 58th minute. But Jimenez dashed Kalba’s hopes when he scored the third goal two minutes from the final whistle.
