Bani Yas beats Al Nasr 1-0 to regain leadership provisionally

Bani Yas football team continued their winning streak and regained leadership of the Etisalat Pro-League after beating visitors Al Nasr with a lone goal in the match played yesterday October 26th at their pitch in the 8th round. They overcame Al Ain and Dubai 3-0 and 4-1 in the 6thand 7throunds respectively to maintain their third successive victory. The hosts are currently sitting on top of the standings provisionally with 18 points.Al Nasr who came up in the previous round with a stunning 4-0 over their city rivals Al Ahli, failed to make it this week to remain in the 9th position with nine points.

The winners' dangerous striker Andre Sengahoor from Senegal was the first to find the back of the net putting his side in the lead only seven minutes into the match capitalizing on Diyab Awana's cross from the right flank. He raised his tally to 10 goals to top the scorers. Sengahoor came close to add the second goal but his fierce left footer was blocked by Al Nasr's custodian. Al Nasr intensified their efforts after the break looking for the equalizer but they squandered all the chances that came their way. Their midfielder Salim Khamis was to make it 1-1 but his long-range shot was deflected by Al Nasr's goalkeeper Abdullah Mousa to a corner four minutes before the final whistle.

In the second match of the day, Dubai made a big surprise beating hosts Al Dhafra with a humiliating 5-3 win to collect their first three points under the guidance of their new Brazilian coach Josef Di Santos Joniour who replaced their ex-Egyptian coach Ayman Al Ramady. The replaced trainer was sacked by the club's board of directors after losing in seven consecutivematches. Hassan Abdul Rahman helped the visitors to take the lead only five minutes from the start benefiting off a defender's error and Tawfique Abdul Razak brought the game to a 1-1 draw in the 23rd minute.

Both teams played a balanced game launching a number of dangerous raids but failed to find the target. The efforts of the visiting team were soon rewarded when the French player Michael Laurent added the second goal in the 35th minute and his teammate Yazeed Ghayse from Morocco netted the third goal five minutes before the break to end the first half with a 3-1 lead. The hosts pressed hard from the start of the second half. Mohammed Salim came close to reduce the deficit but his strong volley rebounded off the upright six minutes after the break. But Boris Kabi compensated for the previous chance to slam the ball home off a perfect header in the 52nd minute. The new result continued for only one minute when Michael Laurent came back to score the fourth goal and the Moroccan player Mohammed Bal Rabih pulled one back for Al Dhafra in the 63rd minute before Abu Bakr Kamara from Ghenia sealed the result for Dubai scoring the fifth goal. Dubai moved to the 11th place provisionally for the first time pushing Kalbato the bottom of the table with one point whilst Al Dhafra stays in the 10th place with 7 points.

Al Ahli and Sharjah played the last game of the first day of round 8 which ended with a 2-1 win for Al Ahli over visitors Sharjah. Both teams demonstrated a poor performance in the first half and failed to score. But their display inthe second half was totallydifferent as the two squads exerted more efforts and played a balanced game. Al Ahli took the lead off a controversial penalty and Brazilian player Binga made no mistake to help his team take an early lead in the 64th minute. But Sharjah leveled the score three minutes later also off a penalty netted by Marcelo Oliveira Da Silva. Ahmed Khalil, who substituted his brother Faisal in the 76thminute, netted the winner off a stand ball in the 80th minute to make it 2-1.

Al Ahli moved to the 4th spot with 14 points and Sharjah are in the 7th place with 11 points.
