Bani Yas beat hosts Dubai to take second position

Bani Yas demonstrated a brilliant display to maintain a stunning 4-1 victory over hosts Dubai in their match played yesterday at Dubai stadium in the 7th round of the Etisalat Pro-League. This win puts them as runners-up with 15 points the same balance of Al Wasl who will face Al Jazira this evening in Abu Dhabi. It was the seventh defeat for Dubai team which adds more woes to their critical situation.

The home squad made a lovely start when they took the lead with an early goal off a penalty nine minutes into the game when their striker Hassan Mohammed was brought down inside the six-yard area and the player himself made no mistake to convert the ball home. Earlier in the fifth minute, Abu Bakr Kamara had the first chance to score as he rounded up two defenders, passed the visitors' custodian but he sent the ball far away from the empty net. The visitors' active front liner Diyab Awana, came close to reduce the deficit, but his close-range shot was cleared by defender Ali Hassan before the ball crosses the goal line in the 21st minute. The hosts' defender Ahmad Mal Allah also deprived Omani player Fawzi Basheir to net the equalizer two minutes later when he blocked his shot just a few meters from the net. The winners intensified their efforts after conceding the first goal. They came from behind to give their opponents hard time after launching a number of raids and their efforts were soon rewarded when Fawzi Basheir found the back of the net in the 29th minute to make it 1-1 and he added the second in the last minute to help his side end the first session with a 2-1 lead.

Bani Yas put more pressure on the hosts' defense who could not stop their rivals' continuous attacks after the break. Diyab Awana penetrated from the right flank to pass two defenders before sending a fierce shot that beat the goalkeeper Jamal Abdullah to make the result 3-1 in the 52nd minute and Senegalian player Andre Sengahoor made it 4-1 with a perfect header six minutes later to raise his tally to nine goals on top of the scorers.

In the second match of the day, Al Nasr came up with a humiliating 4-0 win over visitors Al Ahli. It was the first victory under the guidance of their new local coach Eid Baroot. The winners ended the first half with a 2-0 lead and added two more after the break. Carlos Tennerio and his teammate Ismail Bangoura slammed two goals each. Tennerio opened the score in the sixth minute and Bangoura made it 2-0 in the 20th minute and added the third in the 62nd minute. Tennerio came again to net his second goal to seal the result 4-0. This win helped Al Naser to move three steps forward taking 7th place with 9 points whilst the losers slipped one step down to be in the 6th position with 11 points.

Both Al Wahda and Sharjah failed to score to end their yesterday's match with a goalless draw. They played below the par after a poor display. Al Wahda is in the 4th place with 12 points followed by Sharjah in the 5th position with 11 points.
