Intense competition for title of Fans’ Player of the Year

Followers of the Etisalat Pro League have taken to their phones and Facebook accounts to register daily votes for their favourite footballers in the Fans’ Player of the Year Award. With two days left still to register votes ahead of the winner’s announcement on Sunday, some fans’ favourites have begun emerging in the public vote. Omar Abdulrahman, Asamoah Gyan and Alex Brosque are the front runners from champions Al Ain, whilst Al Ahli can boast four particularly popular players in the form of Grafite, Ismael Al Hammadi, Luis Jiminez and Yousef Mohammed. Meanwhile Amer Abdulrahman and Mohamed Aboutrika of Bani Yas are racking up the votes for the Sky Blues, along with great support for Etisalat Cup winning heroes Driss Fettouhi and Boris Kabi of Ajman, as well as Al Jazira’s star strikers Ricardo Oliveira and Ali Mabkhout. With fans able to vote once a day via the app on the official UAE Pro League Facebook page, and Etisalat customers enjoying the added bonus of also being able to vote daily via SMS, public opinion has been flooding in as stiff competition develops between the top choice players.

The winner of the Fans’ Player of the Year Award will be revealed at the inaugural Etisalat Pro League Awards ceremony, taking place at the ADNEC Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening to celebrate and honour the successes of the 2012-2013 Etisalat Pro League season. Eight other award winners will be crowned at the ceremony, in the categories of Emirati Player of the Year, International Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Top Scorer of the Year, Professional Club of the Year and Fantasy Football Manager of the Year. The Pro League Committee has received all voting forms from its 14 member clubs - as completed by each club’s Coach, Captain and Team Manager - and the Awards Technical Committee is now in the process of counting the votes to determine the winners for all categories. The Etisalat Pro League Awards ceremony will be televised live on ADSC on Sunday evening so audiences can discover the winners the moment they are announced.
