Attendance upholds rate, despite of absence of international players
The number of fans who attended the six games of the Etisalat Cup third round played on last Friday and Saturday amounted to11, 598 spectators, with 176 spectators less compared to the second round, and a slight decline of 1.5%. The second round matches registered 11,774 spectators and 10,429 spectators for the first round.
The total number of spectators who attended the 18 games in three rounds so far was 33,801 at a rate of 1878 spectators per game, compared to 13,193 spectators for the same games played in the first three rounds last season with a rate of about 733 spectators per match.
Despite of the absence of the clubs' key players who are in national duty in China, the attendance average has not decreased much, but has maintained the same rates, and possibly more in some games.
The competition will come to a halt after the end of the 4th round which is due to kick off on Friday and Saturday, to pave the way for the Etisalat Pro League Competition for the season 2011/12. The Etisalat Cup will resume in November 12th with the 5th round.
The three rounds held so far, attracted fans masses better than the previous season 2010-2011, as the number of spectators of the first round this season was 10,429 spectators, compared to 3977 for the previous season, and an increase of 162%. The number of fans attended the Etisalat Cup second round this season in six games was 11 774 spectators, compared to the presence of 5935 spectators in the same second round last season, an increase of 5839 spectators, and a rate of increase that reached 98%, while the third round of this season has reached 11,598 spectators, compared to 3281 last season, and an increase of 254%.
The number of spectators in the 18 games held in three rounds this season, reached 33,801 spectators, compared to 13,193 last season, an increase of 20,608 spectators from the previous season and an increase of 156%.
Al Wasl- Al Wahda game, which was held at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, was followed by 5059 spectators, the highest figure among all other matches followed by Ajman and Sharjah match at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman (2433 spectators), al Shabab and Al Ahli (1942 spectators), Emirates and Al Ain (841 spectators), Al Jazira and Dubai (785 spectators) with only 538 spectators attended Bani Yas and Al Nasr match played at Al Nahyan Stadium.
