Al Dhafra 1-3 Emirates: New boys take all three points

Emirates came from behind to make a winning return to the top flight with a 3-1 victory away at Al Dhafra’s Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium. Bandar Mohammed opened the scoring for Al Dhafra in just the fourth minute, but German Gustavo Herrera was at the double in the second half and Jair added a late third to give Eid Baroot’s side all three points on the road.

Bandar Mohammed became the first player to score in the 2013/14 Arabian Gulf League season, opening his account in the fourth minute with a fine cross-goal finish from the right. But early into the second half, Emirates were handed a route back into the game as German Gustavo Herrera scored from the penalty spot in the 48th minute to level the scores, before bagging his brace twenty minutes later with a header from a cross whipped in from the right. Rounding off the impressive victory, Jair added a third in injury time at the end of the game with an assist from Luiz Henrique.
