Kalba hinder Al Wasl with a 1-0 win; Ajman beat Dibba Al Fujairah 3-1

Ittihad Kalba maintained their first win in the season following a lone victory over hosts Al Wasl in the Etisalat Cup sixth round match held tonight at Al Aweer Stadium in Dubai. Despite of this defeat, Al Wasl are still on top of Group B provisionally with 9 points  prior to Bani Yas – Al Dhafra  clash due to kick off tomorrow while Kalba raised their tally to four points but still at the bottom of the standings.

The two teams demonstrated a poor display through the entire first session with the home side looked the better team after dominating the major parts before the break. Both of them made a number of attempts but could not find the target. Al Faro of Al Wasl sent a strong shot seven minutes into play but Kalb'a goalkeeper Mohammed Osman deflected it to a corner.

The home and visiting teams continued their male display after the breather without creating any scoring opportunities. The hosts played the last 15 minutes with ten men after their defender Yasser Salim was red carded and the sent off gave the visitors a lovely chance to put more pressure on their opponents' defence. Their hard work resulted in the lone goal of the match which was scored by Abdullah Faraj seven minutes to time. Al Wasl doubled their work afterwards trying to bring the game into parity but Kalba's defenders did not give them a space and spoiled all their attempts. Al Saadi was almost to score the second goal, but his severe volley was deflected by Kalba's goalkeeper to a corner two minutes into the stoppage time. Gregory also lost a golden chance for the home team one minute later when he sent the ball just close to the upright to end the game with a lone goal in favor of the visiting team.

In the second game of the day, Ajman jumped forward to top Group C temporarily with 9 points before Al Shabab – Al Ahli match scheduled for tomorrow after beating Dibba Al Fujairah 3-1 at Al Fujairah Stadium. The losers are third with three points. Boris Cabi opened the score three minutes from the word go and Founeke Sy added two in the 10th and 45th minutes and Essa Ali Mohammed pulled one back five minutes before the end of the official time.
