Al Jazira crown themselves champions with a 4-0 win over Al Wasl
Abu Dhabi-based Al Jazira made their dreams come true and crowned themselves champions of the Etisalat Pro-League for this season for the first time in their history following a deserved 4-0 win over hosts Al Wasl in their Round 18 game played tonight at the losers' home ground in Dubai. Al Jazira, holders of the President's Cup before a couple of weeks, were the only domestic team to win the league title in the history of UAE football with four rounds to go. They raised their tally to 46 points, twelve ahead of second-placed Bani Yas and still have four matches in hand.
The winners demonstrated a high technical match especially in the second half where they put up a performance of style. They ended the first session with the lone goal scored by Oliveira four minutes before the break. Their defender Juma'a Abdullah made it 2-0 five minutes into the second session, Oliveira netted the third in the 60th minute and Juma'a again was on target scoring the 4th goal with a perfect header to complete the rout three minutes into injury time. Yasir Salim, Al Wasl's defender was given marching orders in the 71st minute after fouling the freed Bare and the hosts played more than 20 minutes with ten players.
