Al Wasl and Al Jazira share points with a goalless draw

Al Wasl and Al Jazira were tied to a goalless draw to share points of their Etisalat Pro League seventh round game played this evening at the end of the second day at Zabeel stadium. The hosts raise their tally to 10 points to take 8th place while Al Jazira are 7th with 11 points.

Both Al Wasl and Al Jazira demonstrated poor performance through all the first session as most of the work was concentrated on the midfield zone. There were no real and dangerous chances from both sides who tried to score every now and then but they missed the few opportunities that came their way. Essa Rashid tested his luck off a weak header in the 29th minute which missed the target. Al Faro of Al Wasl also tried to find the back of the net seven minutes before the break but Al Jazira’s goalkeeper Ali Khaseif saved with two attempts and the Egyptian striker Mahmoud Shekabala replied off a stand ball one minute before the breather but his shot flew away ending the first half with a goalless draw.

At the beginning of the second session, the two sides went on their attempts but the players missed all the chances that came their way and the real one  of them was the header of Al Jazira Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira in the 51st minute off the ball switched by Abdullah Mousa but it flew over the cross bar.

The two teams made good efforts to score but they failed to make it. Ricardo Oliveira found another chance in the 62nd minute off his team mate Delgado’s through pass, but Al Wasl’s custodian saved in the last moment deflecting the ball to a corner which resulted in another sitter but missed by defender Juma’a Abdullah.

Al Wasl’s player Mohammad Jamal sent a long – range volley that rebounded off the keeper Ali Khaseif before being cleared away by a defender. Al Jazira Brazilian coach Bonamego made his first substitution in the 71st minute when he brought on front liner Ali Mabkhoot to replace Fernandeno. Abdullah Mousa of Al Jazira came close to score off a strong shot from inside the box but the goalie Rashid Ali of Al Wasl spoiled his attempt controlling the ball in the 79th minute. The hosts’ striker Al Faro was set free two minutes later, but defender Juma’a Abdullah cleared the ball away. Al Jazira’s coach pulled off both Delgado and Oliveira to field on Ahmed Juma’a and Abdullah Gasim. Al Wasl’s player Ali Abbas was unlucky to see his perfect header rebound off the upright two minutes to time. The two sides tried their best in the last minutes but failed to score to end the game with a goalless draw.
