Al Wasl v Ajman Pre-Match Press Conferences
All eyes will be on the last game of Round 17 at the Zabeel Stadium, as new coach Eid Baroot takes charge of Al Wasl for the first time following the sacking of Guy Lacombe. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Emirati Baroot recognised the significance of his first game at the helm following the recent turmoil experienced at the Club. “The players must realise the importance of the game and forget the past,” said Baroot. “For me, I’m excited. I trained the team this week and I saw enthusiasm in the eyes of the players from the very first moment, so we will try to translate this enthusiasm into positive performances and results on the pitch together.”
Baroot called on all his players to put in maximum effort for the rest of the season, and stated that nobody’s place in the starting line-up is guaranteed. “The players who fight hardest for their positions and for this Club will be rewarded with a place in the starting line-up, regardless of whether he is a national or a foreign player.” Baroot is also optimistic that, with a good run of form, his newly inherited side can finish as high as fourth due to the advantage of having six home games to come. The coach urged Al Wasl’s fans to stay strong and stand behind the team, as they are the most important element of support.
Eid Baroot’s first opponent in the dugout will be the Ajman Head Coach, Abdul Wahab Abdulkadir, who noted in his pre-match press conference that Al Wasl’s last game against Al Ahli, in which they lost 4-0, was not an accurate reflection of the squad’s capabilities. The Iraqi coach anticipates his opponents will enter the game in high spirits following the appointment of Baroot, and it will be difficult for Ajman to encounter them at this time. However, the coach has been working hard in training with his players to address the clear imbalance in the defensive line, and he has studied data on the opposing team in order to prepare the most appropriate starting line-up and tactics for the match.
