Al Wasl beat Al Riffa (Bahrain) 3-1

Dubai-based Al Wasl scored a remarkable rewarding 3-1 victory over their Bahrain rivals Al Riffa raising their tally to 6 points and leading their group after their first round win against Al Nahda “Oman”. The encounter took place in Zabeel stadium in Dubai within Round 2 of Group “D” of the GCC Champions League in its 27th edition.

The Dubai side took the lead dominating their home ground and netted their first goal through Donda in the 11th minute. Rashid Essa scored the second in the 27th minute. 10 minutes before the end of the first interval Oliveira added the third for his side to start the second part of the game with a 3-0 win to their own.

Al Riffa lone goal came earlier in the second half in the 52nd minute. The visitors then were trying hard to reduce the deficit pushing hard on their opponents but the day was saved by the hosts’ defense who managed to have the final word.
