Al Wasl terminate the services of their Argentine legend coach Maradona

The board of directors of Al Wasl Football Company has decided to terminate the services of the Club Football Team's Argentine legend Diego Maradona, technical coach of the senior squad who led them in the previous season. Maradona signed a two-year contract at the beginning of his work and the club has decided to sack him following a disappointing season. The board of directors also fired all members of Maradona's technical staff after the team failed to win any silverware and make their dreams and ambitions come true at the level of local competitions and the Clubs GCC Championship which he failed to win it despite of a 3-1 victory over their counterparts Al Muharraq of Bahrain in the first leg encounter held in Manama.

Al Wasl finished the Etisalat Pro League Championship in 8th position, 29 points behind league Champions Al Ain. They disappointed their fans as they were knocked out in the President's Cup and could not go further beyond the second round as well as Etisalat Cup.

The decision was announced following the comprehensive evaluation made by the new board of directors to the results achieved by their football team last season under the leadership and supervision of Maradona.
