Al Wasl overcome Al Shabab to lead the standings

Al Wasl came up with a humiliating 4- 0 win over their city hosts Al Shabab in
the match played this evening September 2nd in the last day of the 5th round of
the Etisalat Pro-League at the losers pitch to increase their tally to 12 points
that put them on top of the standings, while the losers dropped two steps
downward to stay in the 10th position with six points.

The winners ended the first half with two goals when Brazilian Oliveira
capitalized from the ball switched by Yeste from Spain from the left flank to
head it home only 13 minutes into the game. Al Shabab defender Waleed
Abbas tried hard to clear the ball but for his bad fortune all his efforts went in
vain. Yeste made it 2-0 when he unleashed a long-range volley that beat the
goalkeeper Hassan Al Sharif.

The visitors continued to dominate the game after the break giving their
opponents hard time. The hosts tried their best to reduce the deficit but the
winners' defense stood solid on their way. Mohammed Ahmed came close
to score for Al Shabab, but his brilliant shot bounced off the right up only two
minutes before the final whistle. Substitute Saeed Al Kas added the third goal
in the 90th minute and his colleague Oliveira sealed the result for the visitors
one minute into injury time to give his team three valuable points that helped
them to jump over second - placed Al Jazira with 11 points.

In the second match of the day played earlier, Al Dhafra went back to the
western region with a lovely win after beating the home squad Kalba 3-1 to
take the 8th position with six points on goal difference ahead of Al Nasr who
have collected the same balance of points. The losers keep their previous 11th
place having only a single point. Moroccan pro Mohammed Bin Rabah was
the first to open the score from the spot four minutes before the break to end
the first half time with a solitary goal lead. His teammate Boris Kabi added the
second in the 66th minute before substitute Ghareeb Harib headed the ball
home in the 79th minute to make it 3-0,but Simon Pierre from Guinea pulled
one back for the losers only three minutes before the end of the game.
