Al Wasl’s Uruguayan pro. Olivera arrives to sign contract

 

Al Wasl's new Uruguayan professional player Juan Manuel Olivera arrived to Dubai to undergo immediate medical tests before signing a formal contract and join the Senior Team preparations for the new season which started on Monday July 25th. The club is expected to disclose officially the details of the contract with Oliveira during a press conference in the few coming hours. Most of the international news agencies have announced Al Wasl's contract  with Uruguayan Penarol's striker Juan Olivera, noting that the club did not disclose the financial value of the deal.

The contract with Olivera, who arrived in Dubai yesterday, came according to Maradona's recommendation. Argentinean player Mariano Donda, who was playing for Godoy Cruz (Second Division), is the closest pro. to sign for Dubai-based Al Wasl and be the fourth expatriate player. Oliveira (30 years) had played previously as a professional player for a number of clubs like Argentine San Lorenzo, Cruz Azul of Mexico, Universidad from Chile and Al Shabab of Saudi Arabi.

Al Wasl Club are planning to reach a compromise with a third professional player along with Omani defender Mohammad al-Shaiba who was considered to continue with the team as an Asian player. The club's management asked the team's coach Diego Maradona to reach an agreement with one of the players before arriving to UAE in the first week of August. Al Wasl will also introduce their second Chilean professional player Addison Butch to media men.

On the other hand the team players are currently conducting daily training sessions as part of their preparations for the new season. The trainings are supervised by Maradona's assisting body which includes Hector Enrique, Ali Hassan and fitness coach Javier Villametiaana. The Chilean Edison Butch took part in the trainings besides the New local players who joined the team recently, Hassan Ali Ibrahim, Fahad Masaud, Mubarak Hassan, Ali Rabei and Hamad Al Hosni. Goalkeeper Majid Nasser, Rashid Al Suwaidi , Mohammad Jamal, Saud Suhail, Rashid Essa, Abdul Rahman Yousuf and Khalifa Bin Lahej  were absent due to injuries and national duties along with professional Mohammad Al Shaiba who is currently joining the Omani National Team.
