A surprising draw
Al Wahda tied with their visiting counterparts Emirates 2-2 in the match that took place this afternoon at Al Nahyan Stadium within Round 11 and the first-half season finale of the Etisalat Pro League competition.
Emirates showed a different standard of performance on the pitch, they started tough and they seemed consistent to compensate their flaws, and it could be said the Emirates new Ivorian joiner Madibo Diarra is going to make a difference to the Ras Al Khaima team. Close to score in the 14th minute Al Hassan Keita missed the Emirates’ first merited goal saved by Motaz Abdulla but later Diarra managed to pass the ball to his team player Abdulla Nini who netted the falcons’ first goal in the 21st minute. In the 30th minute Al Wahda scored the equalizer through the Brazilian Baiano, and it was Diarra who was trying to save a corner sent from Ismael Matar haplessly scored the hosts second goal in his own net in the 46th minute to end the first half with a 2-1 victory to the Abu Dhabi team.
The second half of the match saw no real opportunities from both sides, and almost everyone thought Al Wahda will leave the pitch with the rewarding 3 points; However Diarra surprised the audience and his rivals with an equalizer almost in the end in the 85th minute to end the encounter with a 2-2 draw.
With 17 points Al Wahda come 5th on the pro league standings, while Emirates add another point to their tally but remain last on the table with 4 points.
