Al Wahda lose invaluable three points
Al Wahda beaten by their fault lost an invaluable three points and tied with their Dubai rivals Al Nasr 1-1 in the exciting thrilling encounter that took place in Al Nahyan stadium in Abu Dhabi this evening within Round 14 of the Etisalat Pro League competition.
The match equally dominated with better scoring chances to the Abu Dhabi side was meant to be for the hosts and would have done them well on the standings. Hugo opened the scoring and gifted his side a precious long shot from outside the box that found its way into the left corner of abdullah Mousa in the 25th minute. Only then Al Wahda seemed more confident and dominant over the pitch till the end of the first session.
A defensive blunder that caused Baiano’s header move into his own goal just two minutes after the beginning of the second half turned the match upside down. The runner up team seemed grateful for their hosts’ gift and tried to take advantage of their opponents’ momentous distraction to score a win but it did not work out. Al Wahda by the 65th minute went back in action and had more than one chance to score back through Ismael Matar and Essa Ahmed but in the end it was not their day and the little mistake cost them much.
Both sides added an extra point to their tally which kept Al Nasr second on the standings with 28 points and Al Wahda 6th with 19 points.
