Al Ain hold Al Wahda to a 2-2 draw

Al Ain forced a 2-2 draw to Al Wahda in injury time of in the third match of the second round of the Etisalat Pro-League played tonight at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. It was the third draw in today's games after Sharjah and Al Jazira, Al Nasr and Ajman ended their matches in a 2-2 and a 1-1 draw earlier. Al Ain's defender Ismail Ahmed saved the day for his side when he headed home the equalizer in the 4th minute of the injury time.

Al Wahda's defender Hamdan Al Kamali gave the visiting team the lead in the 28th minute when he scored into his own net. He tried to clear away the ball switched by Asamoah Gyan from Ghana inside the box for Hamdan to head it home to the left hand side of the hapless goalkeeper Motaz Abdullah who advanced forward to control the ball. But Al Kamali compensated for his mistake to level the score also with a brilliant header off the ball sent by Basheir Saeed two minutes later to make it 1-1. His teammate Mohammad Al Shehhy netted the second goal for the hosts three minutes before the break to end the first session with a 2-1 lead for Al Wahda who were the better side through the entire first half.

Al Ain pressed hard after the interval launching a number of forays after controlling the game following the successful substitutes made by their Romanian coach Olario Cosmin. The home team's goalie Motaz Abdullah saved a number of chances and deprived Al Ain's front liners from scoring in a number of occasions especially Asamoah Gyan. Their defenders Basheir Saeed, Hamdan Al Kamaly and Essa Santo stood solid and spoiled many attempts created by Al Ain attackers. But Ismail Ahmed was lucky to snatch a valuable point for Al Ain with a perfect header in the injury time to end the game with a 2-2 draw.
