Al Wahda beat Al Shabab 1-0 to snatch three valuable points
Al Wahda returned to winning track following a hard fought win this evening with a solitary goal over visiting team Al Shabab at Al Nahyan Stadium. They lost to Al Wasl in the Etisalat Pro League first round match. Saeed Al Katheri scored the all – important goal of the game two minutes before the official time. Both teams demonstrated a balanced and thrilling display creating a number of scoring opportunities through the entire time but the front liners squandered some of the chances that came their way due to lack of concentration in addition to the success of both defenders and goalkeepers who also spoiled some of them. Marcelinho and his teammate Saeed Al Katheri squandered the most outstanding chances of the match when their shots rebounded off the cross bar in the 32nd and 38th minutes respectively.
Al Shabab recovered after the break building a handful of attacks but failed to score. Their player Adgar came close to score in the 63rd minute but Al Wahda’s keeper Adil Al Hosani saved his strong volley. Both squads made some good attempts in the last minutes and Al Wahda capitalized on one of them to net the winner.
In the second match of the day, Al Dhafra came up with a 2-1 victory over Dibba Al Fujairah in the match held at Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain Club to raise their tally to four points after drawing with Ajman in the first week match, while Dibba Al Fujaira remain with their lone point following their draw against Dubai. Makhete Diop scored the first goal for Al Dhafra off a penalty kick in the 59th and Abdullah Abdulhadi added the second in the 72nd minute while Junior Da Silva scored Dibba’s lone goal in the last minute.
