Al Wahda 3-2 Al Nasr: Five-goal thriller at Al Nahyan Stadium

Al Wahda came out on top in a pulsating 3-2 clash with Al Nasr at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi to kick off both sides’ Arabian Gulf League campaigns.

The match exploded into life as Al Nasr took the lead in only the fourth minute, with new signing Eder Luis marking his debut with an early goal. Displaying a fine individual run, the Brazilian carried the way from the halfway line before scoring. But the visitors’ lead was short-lived as Al Wahda got themselves back on level terms with a strike from summer signing Damian Diaz. It was Diaz who turned the scoreline around for Al Wahda as he registered a second for the home side in the 24th minute, this time using his head to nod home a Suhail Al Mansoori cross.

Al Wahda extended their lead further in the 57th minute with a tremendous finish from another new face to join the side during the summer, Sebastian Tagliabue. But Al Nasr were not dead and buried yet, as Ibrahima Toure - the Senegalese striker signed from AS Monaco this summer – reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 68th minute, assisted by earlier scorer Eder Luis.
