Al Ahli reached the last four stage; Al Shabab second and Bani Yas compete for a berth

Al Ahli reached the last four stage in the Etisalat Cup Competition following their 4-1 win over Sharjah in their 9th round match played tonight on the losers' pitch. The winners raised their balance to 17 points to stay on top of the table of the second group, the same that of Al Shabab, but Al Ahli benefited much from their head-to-head win in the two teams' home and away matches and therefore they proceeded directly to the next phase irrespective of the outcome of their concluding match in the group stage.

Al Ahli will play the last game at home when they take on Ajman while Al Shabab are to travel to face their competitors Bani Yas at Al Shamkha Stadium.

In another match, Al Shabab and Al Nasr were tied to a 1-1 draw in their encounter held this evening at Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Al Nasr Club. The visitors finished the first session leading with a lone goal which was scored by Hamdan Jasim in the 51st minute and the Italian striker Luka Toni leveled the score 15 minutes before the end of the game. The referee Abdullah Al Ajil gave Al Nar coach Walter Zinga and their player Ali Al Amri marching orders.

On the other hand Bani Yas snatched three invaluable points after beating hosts Ajman 2-1 in the game played today evening at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium. Ajman took the lead when their striker Tia Oliver found the back of the net only 20 minutes into play capitalizing on a defensive blunder to hook the ball over the head of the winners' goalkeeper giving his side an early lead. But Bani Yas midfielder Nawaf Mubarak brought the game to parity when he netted the equalizer in the 32nd minute off a dead ball to end the first half with a 1-1 result.

Bani Yas substitute Fareed Ismail scored the winner in the 78th minute off a cross ball sent by Mohammad Fawzi.

The two teams made some good efforts in the last minutes trying to add more goals but they failed to end the game with a 2-1 win for Bani Yas.

The winners raised their tally to 14 points to retain their hopes for a berth in the semifinal stage. They will host their rivals Al Shabab on March 1st and they need to beat their opponents with a difference of four goals and that is the only condition that helps them to qualify to the next stage.
