Saudi side Al Shabab defeat UAE Al Jazira 2-1

Abu Dhabi-based Al Jazira lost their AFC Champions League sixth round match 2-1 to their Saudi opponents Al Shabab at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on Wednesday night for the winners to progress to the final 16 of the 2013 continental competition with a tally of 13 points accompanied by Al Jaish of Qatar who have finished the Group stages in second place on 11 points. Al Jazira are third with five points while Tractor Sazi from Iran are at the bottom of Group “A” with only four points.

Ibrahim Diaky put the visiting squad 1-0 up in the 31st minute off Subait Khatir’s perfect pass to end the first session with a lone goal lead. But Nasser Al Shamrani brought the game into parity only three minutes after the break and his team mate Badr Al Sultan doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 79th minute to secure his team a 2-1 victory. Al Jazira completed the last minutes with ten players after their defender Khalid Sabeel was shown the red card after collecting two yellow cards.
