Al Dhafra beat Emirates 5-1; Sharjah outclass Al Shaab 1-0
Al Dhafra maintained their second successive win in the second round of the play-offs for promotion to the Etisalat Pro League of the upcoming season 2012/2013 following their deserved and big 5-1 victory over Emirates in the match played tonight at Al Shabab stadium. They have collected six points so far from two matches and they need one point from their last round encounter against Al Shaab to make their dreams come true.
Mahmoud Gasim was the first to find the back of the net giving the winners the lead after 22 minutes from the start and he added the second goal in the 35th minute. Al Dhafra looked the better and dangerous side after controlling the major parts of the game giving their opponents hard time who played below the par. Abdullah Abdul Hadi made it 3-0 only four minutes later and his teammate Makati Diyoub netted the fourth goal four minutes before the breather to end the first half with a 4-0 lead.
Al Dhafra continued their domination of the game for Amara Diane to complicate things for their opponents with a perfect header in the 58th minute to make it 5-0 and Emirates reduced the deficit later on when Diyara pulled one back ten minutes before the final whistle giving his side a 5-1 victory.
On the other hand Sharjah classified out their counterparts Al Shaab with a solitary goal scored by Brazilian striker Marcelinho, who capitalized on a stand ball switched by substitute Salem Khamis into the box in the 95th minute. The winners raised their tally to three points, the same balance of Al Shaab to revive their hopes to secure themselves a berth in the 14-team Pro League.
Despite of losing twice in a row, Emirates still have a chance to qualify along with the three other squads and the two seats will be decided in the third match of the quartet tournament. Al Dhafra will play against Al Shaab while Emirates will take on Sharjah on September 14.
