Al Nasr outclass Al Wahda 4-1 to take runners – up; Dibba Al Fujairah register first win

Al Nasr jumped to second position in the league table provisionally with a record of 17 points following their 4-1 deserved victory over Al Wahda in the Etisalat Pro League 8th week match played at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai. It was the first time for the Dubai – based side to play on their pitch due to the maintenance work at their Stadium in the last stage. Al Wahda are in third spot after collecting 15 points.

The two teams struggled hard from the very start trying to take an early lead and it was the home team who made their dreams come true when Bruno Cesar headed home the ball that rebounded off the visitors’ keeper Adil Al Hosani in the 7th minute when Leo Lima tested his luck with a perfect header. The match saw hard work afterwards from both sides as the hosts made every bit of effort to double their lead while their rivals struggled to level the result and come back into the game. But Al Nasr tightened their grib on the match giving their opponents no room to find the back of their net. The first half ended with a lone goal lead for the winners.

Al Wahda looked the better side in the second half creating a number of scoring chances but all their work was in vain. At the same time Al Nasr tried hard to double their advantage and their efforts were soon paid dividends when Bruno Cesar received a long ball and he did not hesitate to hook it over the advancing goalkeeper Adil Al Hosani into the empty net to make it 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Bruno came to fire another goal five minutes later for a hat trick when he received a long pass from Lima that put him free with only the custodian to beat. The winners’ Iraqi midfielder Nashat Akram was given marching orders in the 74th minute for the second yellow card. Tawfiq Abdulrazak reduced the deficit with a strong shot in the 80th minute. But Humaid Abbas sealed the result for Al Nasr when he was set free by Bruno Cesar one minute before the final whistle to give the hosts a 4-1 victory.

On the other hand, Dibba Al Fujairah registered their first win in the Etisalat Pro League when they surprised Al Wasl with a 2-1 result to raise their tally to four points moving one step forward to stay second from bottom. Al Faro put Al Wasl into the lead only eight minutes from the word go and Luiz Fernando brought the game into parity in the 19th minute.
