Al Nasr hold Al Shabab to a 2-2 draw
Al Nasr came from behind when they were two goals down to hold hosts Al Shabab to a 2-2 draw in the encounter played today evening at Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium in round 15 of the Etisalat Pro-League Competition. Al Shabab slipped to 4th spot with 24 points while Al Nasr are in 7th position with 21 points.
The two teams played an organized and attacking football in the opening twenty minutes with the hosts side Al Shabab controlling most parts of the game. They were the dangerous team any they came close to find the back of the net in a number of occasions. The hosts created most of their opportunities from the right flank but they squandered all the balls that switched in front of the goal mouth from this side.
On the other hand the visitors failed to threaten their rivals' goal and the only threat came from their Guinean player Ismail Bangoura who sent a severe volley that well controlled by Al Shabab custodian Salim Abdullah six minutes before the break.
Al Shabab continued to control the game in the second session putting more pressure on their contenders' defense line. They waited only three minutes after the break before their Brazilian player Joseil Da Silva put them in the lead with a strong shot which beat Al Naser's hapless custodian Abdullah Mousa. Joseil came close to add his second goal but his shot was saved by the visitors 'goalie in the 59th minute. Ali Mohammad compensated for Joseil's lost chance with a perfect volley that deflected by defender Hilal Saeed and although the ball; went straight in the direction of Al Nasr's goalkeeper, but he failed to control it before it slipped off his hands into the net for the second goal in the 60th minute.
Al Nasr did not give up but they made some good efforts and they soon scored their first goal when their Brazilian player Rodrigo Vergilio "Carica" sent a left-footer shot that beat Al Shabab's goalie to reduce the deficit making it 2-1. The same player came after many attempts to score the equalizer two minutes to time to secure a valuable point for his team Al Nasr ending the game with a 2-2 draw.
