Al Nasr outclass Al Jazira to snatch three valuable points

Al Nasr came from behind when they were one goal down to outclass home team Al Jazira with a 2-1 victory and snatch three points in the last three minutes of the Etisalat Pro League first round match played tonight at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Jazira Club, Abu Dhabi. The two teams demonstrated a balanced display in front of a big mass of spectators who cheered up the players through the entire time. Despite of his poor start, Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira came quickly into the atmosphere of the game to threaten Abdullah Mousa’s goal every now and then. His left- foot effort from 30 yards 17 minutes into play beat Al Nasr’s hapless keeper Abdullah Mousa to give the home team an early 1-0 lead. Al Nasr went all out afterwards trying to level the score, but all their efforts were in vain due to their weak attacks. Al Jazira also made some good work through Ibrahima Diaky, Oliveira and Luiz Fernando looking for more goals but they failed to score to finish the first half with a solitary goal win.

Al Nasr came close to bring the game back into parity when Masoud Hassan collected a ball and launched a severe shot for the hosts’ goalkeeper Ali Khusaif to tip onto the cross bar for a corner one minute after the break. The visiting team put more and continuous pressure on their rivals’ defense that forced them to retreat back to defend their goal depending on counter attacks for only a few minutes before coming again to play an attacking football. Hassan Mohammad squandered a lovely chance for Al Nasr when he was sent free with just Ali Khusaif to beat but he sent the ball into the keeper’s hands in the 57th minute.

The visitors doubled their efforts in the last minutes making every bit of work to turn the game on their favor. Their hard work was soon paid dividends when they scored two successive goals through Humaid Abbas and his teammate Bruno Cesar. Humaid headed home the ball switched from the left flank in the 89th minute and Bruno put the match beyond reach when he received a perfect pass from Lima inside the box and he did not hesitate to send the ball into the far left corner to secure his side three deserved points.
