Al Jazira tighten their grip on the Etisalat Pro-League Crown
All teams who played at home in Round 15 of the Etisalat Pro-League competition came out with three valuable points, with the only exception being Al Shabab who were forced to a 2-2 draw by visiting squad Al Nasr.
Al Ain secured their third win since the start of the competition after beating traditional rivals Al Wahda 2-0, which sees them in 10th place and just out of the relegation zone. Competition leaders Al Jazira ended their game with a huge 5-1 victory over Al Ahli, whilst lowly placed Kalba and Dubai surprised their visitors when they overcame Bani Yas 2-1 and Sharjah 1-0 respectively. In the other match of the round, hosts Al Wasl defeated Al Dhafra 2-1.
Al Jazira's win on the weekend sees them widen the difference between themselves and Bani Yas to 10 points, with a current tally of 39 points. Bani Yas are still in second place with 29 points but their challenge for the leadership looks very though at this stage. The two teams will face each other in the next round at Bani Yas' Al Shamkha stadium in what is set to be a cracker of a match.
Al Jazira remain the only team who have not lost a single game since the start of the competition. They have scored 41 goals, making them the best offensive line in the League, and have conceded only 12 goals to also boast the best defense line amongst all UFL teams.
Ahead of their next Etisalat Pro-League match, Al Jazira will face their city rivals Al Wahda in the President's Cup final on April 11. If they win this championship it will be their biggest ever local championship and may pave the way for the ultimate crown at the end of the Etisalat Pro-League season.
In 3rd and 4th place respectively, Al Wasl and Al Shabab have collected the same number of points but Al Wasl has the advantage after beating Al Shabab 4-0 in their head-to-head match played in Round 5 of the Etisalat Pro-League.
Despite losing badly tot Al Jazira, Al Ahli remain in 5th place with 22 points, followed by Sharjah in 6th and Al Nasr in 7th position, both on 21 points. Al Wahda are in 8th position following their loss to Al Ain on the weekend, and Dubai are in 9th position with a balance of 16 points. Al Ain remain in 10th spot with 14 points,
whilst Al Dhafra are still second from the bottom with 12 points after losing at home to Al Wasl 1-2. They are fighting relegation along with Kalba who are at the bottom of the table with 11 points, despite winning 2-1 against Bani Yas on the weekend.
