Al Jazira on Top of Table

Midfielder Subait Katir saved the day for his Al Jazira team when he scored
the equalizer five minutes into injury time in the match played last night at
Rashid Stadium in Al Ahli as part of the fourth round of the Etisalat Pro-
League. The visitors came out with a valuable point as the game ended in
a 2-2 draw which helped Al Jazira to go one step forward and provisionally
top the standings this round with 8 points. They will now have to wait until
tomorrow to see the result of the big match between Al Wahda and Al Ain
to find out if they will stay on top. Al Ahli's Bance put them in the lead only
five minutes into the game. He received a perfect pass from his Brazilian
colleague Pinga, rounded up a defender before sending the ball into the
net. Al Jazira fought hard to get back into the match but they squandered a
number of easy chances. Ahmed Khamis made things difficult for them when
he netted the second goal only one minute before half time. Al Jazira exerted
more efforts in the second session to dominate the game and their hard work
awarded them the first goal off a header by Juma'a Abdullah. The home team
nearly emerged winners, had it not been for Subait Kati who sent a fierce shot
off a free kick to snatch a valuable point for his side. Al Ahli remains in their
previous 7th place with five points.

The fourth round began earlier in the evening with a win for Sharjah over
Dubai. The winners were lucky enough to score their lone goal in the last
minute of injury time to add three points that helps them provisionally stay in
third position with seven points, while the losers stay at the bottom of the table
with no points after losing their first four matches. Brazilian Marcelo Oliveira
scored the only goal of the game for Sharjah from a perfect header.

Round four matches continue this evening with Al Dhafra taking on Al Wasl
and Al Wahda taking on Al Ain at home.
