Vercauteren: To win is to take big steps to semi-finals
Franky Vercauteren Al Jazira head coach stressed the importance of their upcoming encounter against their rivals Al Ain to take place on Friday 27 January 8:00 pm at Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium within Round 7 of the Etisalat Cup competition.
Al Jazira are in pole position to qualify from their group to the semi-final stages of the cup, and Vercauteren is certain his side has what it takes to beat Al Ain and has urged his team to get the three points in order to help seal their passage to the last four: “The game is important because we want to qualify for the semi-finals as quickly as possible, so the sooner we can do that the better. We have the first playing the second and the third playing the fourth, if you win you can take big steps to semi-finals.” said the Belgian Boss.
When asked if his team had been affected by their poor run of form he said:”First, we work on forgetting, not to forget the past because you can take lessons from it, you have to be better than the last game, but you don’t live with the past.”
