Al Wahda and Ajman record wins over Al Dhafra and Al Nasr

Al Wahda got their first win since the return of coach Josef Hickersberger for his third spell at the Abu Dhabi-based club, as they managed a 2-1 away victory at Al Dhafra’s Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium. A first half brace from Marcelinho, who scored his goals in the 16th and 29th minutes, was enough to secure all three points for Al Wahda despite Anas Bani Yassen narrowing the advantage with a goal for Al Dhafra in the 35th minute. Al Wahda are 7th with 35 points and Al Dhafra dropped a place to 9th with their 30-point total.

Ajman warmed up for their Etisalat Cup final next week with a 2-1 home win over Al Nasr at the Rashid bin Saeed Stadium. Boris Kabi put the hosts 1-0 up in injury time at the end of the first half, before bagging his brace in the 63rd minute to give the Ivorian a total of 21 goals so far this season in the Etisalat Pro League. Al Nasr’s Japanese striker Takayuki Morimoto got a goal back for the visitors in the 86th minute but the result means Al Nasr stay on 39 points in 5th place, whilst Ajman now have 29 points in 10th place.
