Al Dhafra sign Syrian coach Ghowaid for three months

Al Dhafra Board of Directors has signed a three-month contract with Syrian coach Mohammad Ghowaid to lead senior football team until the end of the season. He replaced the Egyptian caretaker coach Fattouh Al-Mursi who supervised the team in their last game against Al Wasl after Alexander Guimaraes was fired only hours before the game due to the team's poor results in the Etisalat Pro-League matches.

The new coach will start his stint this evening to prepare the players for the next game against hosts Kalba in round 16 of the Etisalat Pro-League Competition on April 14.

Mursi will return to his previous position to lead Al Dhafra in the Etisalat Reserve League, because of the sensitivity and the difficulty of the stage facing Al Dhafra in the Etisalat Pro-League Competition which is currently threatening their fate as they are lying second from bottom with 12 points  following their 1-2 defeat to Al Wasl in the previous round.

Ghowaid admitted the difficulty of his task in the remaining phase of the competition. He said his confidence in the positive response from Al Dhafra's players encouraged him to accept the club's offer especially he knows them thoroughly well after leading the team in 2008 as a successor to former Egyptian coach Ayman Al Ramady before moving to train Syrian club Al Karama.

He said he will depend on the positive morals of the players and will arrange the team in a way that can restore their balance in the Etisalat Pro-League competition.
On the other hand, Khalifa Mattar member of Al-Dhafra Board of Director said that signing a contract with Ghowaid was imposed by the current circumstances, as the team is in a very difficult situation and seeking to restore balance and change its position in the table of the Etisalat Pro-league Competition. "We have confidence in the capabilities and efficiency of the new coach; especially that he is one of the famous names after training some of Syria National teams and clubs.
