Al Ain beat Dubai with Gyan's two goals to take third place
With two goals netted by Asamoah Gyan from Ghana, Al Ain beat Dubai 2-1 in the second day of the Etisalat Pro-League third round game played tonight at Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Stadium in Qattara. Al Ain raised their tally to 7 points to take third spot behind Al Jazira who are on top of the table on goal difference and Al Wasl who are sitting in 2nd position with the same balance of points while Dubai are in 10th place with one point.
All three goals were scored before the break and Asamoah was the first to find the back of the net only 19 minutes into play off a perfect pass from Ali Al Wihaibi. He added the second goal four minutes later with a pass sent also by Al Wihaibi from the same area for Gyan to score this time with a header.
Dubai started the game with a little bit shaky performance and this gave the home team a great chance to put more pressure on them and control the game from the very start. The visiting team relied on defensive tactics in the first 20 minutes but they recovered and came to play an attacking football after conceding the first goal. Their players exerted great efforts especially the Moroccan striker Nabil Al Daoudi who made some good attempts, but Al Ain defenders spoiled all of them with great confidence.
Al Daoudi was not depressed as he continued his endeavors until his efforts yielded his team's lone goal in the 32nd minute when he capitalized on the ball which was cleared by defender Musalam Fayez but fell under his feet. He collected the ball and sent it straight into the right hand side making it 2-1.
The two teams continued their efforts after the interval trying to score more goals but they did not score despite of the bagful of chances that came their way especially the hosts side who lost some scoring sitters via Gyan, Skoko and Yasir Al Gahtani against some few chances for Dubai.
