Al Ain keep leadership; Al Jazira and Ajman beat Sharjah and Al Nasr

 

Al Ain retained their leadership of the Etisalat reserve League Championship with a balance of six points  on goal difference to Al Jazira following their 3-1 win over Al Wahda in the second round match played yesterday at Tahnoun Stadium in Qattara. Shihab Ahmed put the hosts into the lead scoring the first goal in the last minute of the first session. His teammate Mohammad Nasir made it 2-0 eight minutes after the break. Saeed Salim Al Kathery of Al Wahda pulled one back to reduce the deficit to make it 2-1 in the 64th minute, but Mohammad Nasir was again on target netting the third goal five minutes from time.

On the other hand, Al Jazira beat their counterparts Sharjah 4-1 in the same round in their match held at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Ali Mabkhoot took the lead for the home team Al Jazira in the 13th minute and Ahmed Juma’a added the second two minutes later. Ali Mabkhoot came in the 21st minute to make it 3-1 before Sharjah scored their lone goal in the last minute to end the first half with a 3-1 for Al Jazira. Mabkhoot made things difficult for the visiting team when he netted the fourth goal to come out with a hat trick.

In the third game of the day Ajman came from behind to defeat Al Nasr 2-1 at home. The visitors ended the first half leading 1-0 when they scored via Mohammad Marwan in the 41st minute. Ajman netted two goals after the interval through Mohammad Zahran in the 57th minute and Salim Obaid who scored the winner in the injury time.
