Cosmin is pleased with Al Ain players’ performance, and Maradona confirms Al Wasl did not deserve to loose
Al Ain's Romanian coach Olaroiu Cosmin explained during the post press conference held after his team beat Al Wasl with a solitary goal in the sixth round of the Etisalat Cup, that the game performed by his team on Saturday, was the best in terms of the degree of high performance, big efforts exerted and determination of the players to come out with a positive result.
Speaking on the reason for being given marching orders, Cosmin said, "I do not know why the referee has taken that decision probably it was because I stood outside the technical area after Yasser Al Qahtani scored the lone goal of the match. There were a number of wrong decisions from the referee which made everybody nervous as he gave many unjustified yellow and red cards”.
Commenting on what the legend Maradona had said in his press conference in what could be described beyond the bounds of decency and far from the spirit of sport, cozmin said, "Everyone knows Maradona and his history, but my C.V is clean during my career as a player or as a coach".
He added, "He said I directed my players to play tough with Donda, but I am not crazy to give such instructions to my players to do that".
On the other hand, the world football legend Maradona, coach of Al Wasl, expressed his regret and dismay for the loss of his team, assuring that Al Ain took superiority in the first half and Al Wasl controlled the game after the interval, but without scoring, indicating that Al Wasl did not deserve to lose.
Commenting on the way Al Ain coach celebrated when Al Qahtani scored the only goal of the game, Maradona said: "What happened in that moment, was far away from the sports ethics and unacceptable. When the rivals’ team score a goal and their coach cries in a strange way pointing at me, this is unacceptable”.
Maradona said, the conflict between the teams will continue weekly and things have not yet been resolved and we will continue to compete with other teams up to the last match and will seek to improve our situation from one game to another, and try to reach the semi-finals of the Etisalat Cup.
It is worth mentioning that the mother of the global football legend Maradona had passed away yesterday evening at the age of 81 after suffering a heart attack in Buenos Aires.
