Al Ahli and Al Shabab qualify for Semi-finals of GCC Championship

Al Ahli has continued their winning streak in the Gulf Clubs Championship to reach the semi-finals of the competition after beating their UAE rivals Al Dhafra 3-1 in the quarterfinals played on Tuesday night at Rashid Stadium in Dubai. Salmeen Khamis and Faisal Khalil scored for Al Ahli in the first half and substitute Ismail Al Hammadi added their third goal after the break. Al Ahli, the winners of Group "D" in the preliminary phase, will battle it out against the winning team from today's match between Kazma of Kuwait and Al Rifa of Bahrain.

The UAE's Al Shabab have also qualified for the next stage of the competition, which was won last year by UAE Club Al Wasl. Al Shabab recorded a confident 4-0 victory over visiting team Dhofar of Sultanate of Oman in Monday night's encounter at Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium. Al Shabab will now take on Al Arabi of Kuwait in the semi-finals after the Kuwaiti team eliminated Al Arabi of Qatar 2-0.
