Al Ahli overcome Emirates 2-0
Al Ahli have maintained their first victory in the Emirates Pro-League after beating Emirates 2-0 in their second round match played this evening at Rashid Stadium to collect three valuable points. Al Ahli's player Jimenez from Chili scored the two goals after the break to take his side to 5th place provisionally before Bani Yas- Al Wasl and Dubai- Al Shabab matches being played today and tomorrow. Emirates remain in 6th spot with three points behind Al Ahli who won their head-to-head match.
The two teams ended the first half with a goalless draw after their front liners Faisal Khalil and Graffiti from Al Ahli, Al Hassan Keita from the visiting team lost a bagful of chances besides the brilliant display demonstrated by Emirates' goalkeeper Ahmad Al Shagi up to the 71st minute. But his team was highly affected by the substitution of both professional players Al Hassan Keita and Awrak due to injury in the mid of the second session.
Luis Jimenez opened the score in the 71st minute off a long ball sent by Tariq Ahmed inside the box to face the goalie before sending it into the left hand side. The Emirates team tried to recover after their coach Ghazi Al Gharaeri fielded in Al Wasl's former midfielder Khalid Darweesh to support the attackers, but the winners' defense led by Mohammed Jasim, Saad Suroor and Abdulaziz Haikal spoiled all their attempts.
Jimenez added the second goal in the 84th minute off a stand ball and both teams squandered a number of scoring chances in the last minutes to end the game with a 2-0 win for Al Ahli.
