Match in red & white

Al Ahli tied 2-2 with their counterparts Sharjah in the match that took place at Al Ahli Club Stadium in Dubai this evening within Round 9 of Etisalat Pro League competition.

The first half of the match was devoted to the reds who firmly reined the pitch over the first 30 minutes, sensing the lack of concentration and lack of confidence of their rival Sharjah made it easier for Al Ahli to net their very first goal in the 11th minute through the Brazilian Grafite and Ahmed Khalil scored Al Ahli second goal in the 40th minute to end the first half of the match with a 2-0 victory to the reds.

It was completely a different match throughout the second half, reined by the whites, Sharjah totally became another team, more organized, more consistent and their fighting spirit showed up to the surface. It was Viera’s scheme to spread 3 strikers and crack down Al Ahli’s midfield to push back the defense, and that what gave Sharjah the power and more free space to move and by the 61st minute Sharjah successfully scored their first goal through the Brazilian Marcelo Da Silva. And just 10 minutes later Marcelo netted his second goal and gave his team a rewarding point. A canceled shot for Grafite in the 77th minute could have changed the result but however both teams had their share of missing shots.

With 11 points Al Ahli remain 7th on the Pro League table while Sharjah who are fighting hard to get back into the competition remain 9th with 9 points.
