Asamoah and Scocco lead Al Ain to defeat Al Ahli 2-0 and top the standings

Asamoah Gyan from Ghana and his Argentinean colleague Scocco scored one goal apiece to beat hosts Al Ahli 2-0 in their 4th round postponed encounter held this evening at Rashid Stadium in Dubai.  They helped their team Al Ain to top the standings of Etisalat Pro League for the first time since the start of the season with 17 points, one point ahead of former leaders Al Jazira who dropped to second position with 16 points. Al Ahli remain in their previous place with 7 points from two wins and one draw.

The two teams showed great insistence from the very start looking for an early goal and it was Asamoah Gyan who made his team's dreams come true. He received a long pass from the veteran midfielder Hilal saeed outside the box for Gyan to control the ball, faced and rounded up Al Ahli's goalkeeper before driving it into the empty net in the 20th minute. Al Ain Romania coach Olario Cosmin was forced to make an early substitution when his countryman Radio was injured only 29 minutes into play and Abdul Aziz Fayez replaced him.

Al Ain squandered a valuable chance in the 34th minute when Asamoah received a perfect pass inside the box, sent a cross ball, but Fayez Fawzy failed to score from a close range. Al Ain went on their attempts producing brilliant display, reaching their rivals' goal area every now and then, while the home team failed to threaten the visiting team's goalie except in the last minutes of the first session when they built some good attacks but could not hit the back of the net to end the first half with a 1-0 lead for Al Ain.

Only few seconds have passed into the second half before Argentinean player Scocco received a pass and ran towards the hosts' goal and drove the ball into the right far corner making it 2-0. The second goal made things difficult for the home team with Al Ain taking full control of the game. Asamoah lost a lovely sitter for Al Ain when his teammate Scocco put him free, he hooked the ball over the advancing custodian but for his bad fortune it missed the empty net in the 54th minute.

Al Ahli organized their lines in the last 30 minutes of the game and they pressed hard on Al Ain's defense especially after their Spanish coach Quique fielded on their striker Ahmed Khalil in the 69th minute to replace Jiminez. They pressed hard and made every bit of work to keep their opponents at bay. Al Ain relied heavily on defensive tactics in the last 15 minutes depending on counter attacks.   Both teams failed to find the target and add more goals to end the game with a 2-0 result for the visiting squad Al Ain.
