Al Ahli introduce Chilean Luis Jimenez and Amer Mubarak
Dubai-based Al Ahli disclosed their two deals with Chilean international Luis Jimenez (27 years) along with former Al Nasr midfielder Amer Mubarak Ghanim during a news conference held on Wednesday August 3rd at Khalifa Tower in Dubai and attended by Ahmad Khalifa Hammad, Executive Director of the club, Mohammad Al Hammadi, Board of Directors Member and Fabio Cannavaro Technical Advisor. Al Ahli signed a four-year contract with the Chilean pro. who had previously participated in Al Ahli warm up camp held recently in Austria.
At the outset of the conference Ahmad Khalifa said:" The forthcoming stage is very important and therefore we must prepare the team in a good shape as it will face a big challenge and plans to compete in all competitions".
Luis Jimenez told media men that he was very delightful to play for a team like Al Ahli. "I have the desire to join Al Ahli and for me it's a big challenge and a new experience and I always like facing challenges. I had a number of alternative offers, but I have chosen Al Ahli among all because I felt it will be a good opportunity to play in a new league. Also the presence of the former 2006 FIFA Player of the Year Fabio Cannavaro has encouraged me much to sign for Al Ahli and this can pushe every player to come to Dubai and play for this team", he said.
He thanked the club for their support since his arrival to Dubai, stressing that he feels better from day to day; assuring his aim is to win in all the games he would play with his new team.
Jimenez spoke about his experience in the Italian league, describing it as the most powerful league in the world. He said: I'm happy to play 10 years in the Italian league and I hope to achieve in the UAE League the same achievements I made in Italy". He pointed out that playing in the UAE league will not affect his presence in his country's National squad line up.
On the other hand Amer Mubarak thanked Al Ahli's management for selecting him to join their team hoping to demonstrate a technical standard that satisfies the club's aspirations and helps him to contribute with his colleagues in winning championships.
Luis Jimenez began his career with Deportivo Ballestino Club from Chile until 2002 before moving to Italy to play for Turnana, Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter Milan. He joined Chile National Team in 2004, and participated with them in Copa America held recently in Argentine.
Al Ahli Football Team's mission will leave on Friday August 5th for Australia to organize the third stage of their warm up camp, in the framework of their preparations for the upcoming season. Al Ahli need to struggle hard to compete in all competitions after signing a number of professional players including the duo Brazilians Grafite and Gaga along with a number of local players and they are only left with the Asian pro. as the last deal for the next season who is expected to join the team during the camp in Australia.
