Al Ahli hold Kazma to a 1-1 draw and qualify to the 26th GCC Clubs Champions league final match
Al Ahli Football Team of Dubai have qualified to the final match of the 26th GCC Clubs Champions league and President's Cup after holding Kazma of Kuwait to a 1-1 draw in their second leg semifinal encounter held today evening at Al-Sadaqua Walsalam Stadium in Kuwait. Al Ahli defeated the Kuwaiti side in the first home game by a lone goal held last month at Rashid Stadium in Dubai to collect four points against a single point for Kazma. They will face the team who will emerge winners in tomorrow’s encounter when Al Arabi of Kuwait host UAE side Al Shabab. Both Al Shabab and Al Arabi were tied in the first game
with a 2-2 draw at Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium in Dubai.
Ismail Al Ajmi from Oman put the hosts into the lead in the 39th minute capitalizing off a joint error committed by Al Ahli's defense and goalkeeper Yousuf Abdullah to end the first half with a 1-0 win. Kazma took the lead against the run of play after their goalie Hisham Kankoni saved many chances created by Al Ahli's players during the entire time of the game.
While the match was heading towards the extra time, the substitute Faisal Khalil leveled the score with a perfect header off a dead ball sent by Brazilian Luis Jiminez two minutes before the end of the match to take his team to the last stage.
